Backstory:
1. What is/was your character's profession?
Most of her time was spent as 1 of 3 guardians that protected the sacred grove Moonglade, around the outer edges of Besela. The grove was a semi large forest surrounding a spring that was commonly used by druids or for ceremonies held by nobles.
Sometimes in times of great need (mostly when danger drew near enough to the grove or another important landmark) she joined in with the regular warriors of the military and fought as well, but it was usually not for very long given Beselan military strategy.
She's leaving it all behind however to travel and hopefully spread her ideals (left aprox a year ago)
2a. what are your character's parents like, even if they are dead?
Like typical Urshine parents, her parents Ahote (father) and Kasa (mother) were there when necessary but parted ways with her and each other when she reached 20 and was sent off to learn her craft. Ahote was fairly gruff his main task protecting the children when they were very young and lending a little bit into training her siblings who would follow in the path of being a warrior. Kasa was a bit more warm but still a little distant in her desire to raise strong and independent cubs.
2b. What did your parents do for a living?
Both were warriors of Besela. They were average soliders, never reaching any high rank or standing but both were very proud and dedicated to the cause. Ahote still fights in the military to this day, whereas Kasa has settled into a general labourer job in the city after being injured in battle.
3. What are your character's aspirations for life?
Realistically she simply wants to live her life and honor and protect the nature around her for as long as she has the strength to. Idealistically, however, she'd like to take a more active role in preserving nature by setting out and attempting to bring the rest of the world more into line with the philosophies of Besela and druids.
4. What social environment did your character have?
Shima was a child born of two warriors and had modest but comfortable means. Nothing fancy but they never really strugged to get by. This changed slightly when she was sent as a 'teen' to train for her future as a druid, the sacred and magical nature of her fighting abilities seen as slightly more useful then the pure brute strength of her parents.
That said the benefits are purely social and based on honor and prestige. She is not wealthy nor does she own many material items. She's perfectly capable of surviving alongside nature so she's far more accustom to bartering and sharing then the way the traditional world works. However her duty as a guardian of a sacred area held her high esteem among the few people living in the area and among some nobles or druids that commonly made use of Moonglade.
5. Why did your character become their class? Why not another, ex fighter?
While it was assumed that Shima and all her siblings would grow up in the footsteps of their parents Shima was observed at a young age with a certain affinity for nature, even more so then the general nature reverring people of her lands. A wandering druid noticed her fondness of nature and her enamour with the Old Faith and suggested the path to Unae who eventually set about making Shima her student.
6. Who trained your character?
Unae, an aging elven druid. At age 20 Shima joined a small group to study underneath Unae, who was passing along knowledge and training others to take over the care of certain sacred places throughout Besela. Eventually she was went to Moonglade to fulfill her role (last wall of defense, brute force and intimidation, etc etc)
7. Does your character have any close friends? Any non-immediate family?
Elora - One of her sister guardians of Moonglade, an elf from a noble family. The oldest of the three, she fancied herself a leader despite the face that they all pretty much worked on their own most of the time. Very smart, level headed, well read, and fond of lore and storytelling. Still alive at Moonglade.
Keya - Another sister guardian of Moonglade, and the youngest, a kitsune. Keya was the most lively of the three often liking to liven things up by playing tricks. In desperate times she could be a reliable and very strategic ally strong, but most of the time she was simply the most playful guardian, often in search of a good time. She had a great fondness for shapeshifting. Still alive at Moonglade.
Shima also has a small handful of nieces and nephews. She likely has cousins as well but would have had very little dealings with them in quite some time.
8. Does your character have any enemies?
Not really... Not many people out where she spent most of her life. Well other then general 'enemies of nature'.
9. Does your character have any habits, good or bad?
All the nature analogies and metaphors - forever. Mediatates in the morning.
10. Does your character honor any particular god? Why or why not?
Shima follows the Old Faith moreso than any particular god. "Every living thing and natural phenomenon has a spirt".
11. What is your character's greatest Fear?
The destruction of the natural world or the destruction of Besela. She'd also feel a good deal of guilt if anything were to happen to Moonglade because of her departure.
12. Does your character have any siblings? If so what were they like?
A brother (Cheveyo) and sister (Tiponi), both older and with different fathers. They would play as children, both more rambunctious and rough than Shima. But after she left to study she didn't often have much to do with them. Cheveyo was particularly huge and strong and had a great ego. Tiponi was also tough as nails, though a little more tolerant of Shima as the middle child. Both are alive and well in Besela.
13. Is your character in any sort of romantic relationship? If yes, who are they with and describe the relationship. If no, why not?
Once upon a time she was very much in love, with a Urshine warrior named Kuruk. They met when they were young adults (right around 28-30) while she was in the later parts of her training and he was likewise stationed nearby. They shared a fondness atypical of their kind and were barely adults themselves before they bore a single son - Enapay. Enapay eventually joined the military like his father where both eventually gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect their homelands. Shima harbors bittersweet feelings about this - feeling sorrow at her lose but at the same time proud. (Aka - she's not a bellowing widower. She knows life is harsh and you have to roll with the punches)
Since then, about 65ish, she hasn't been romantically involved - though mostly just because she tends not see many others outside the 'sisters' that guarded the grove along with her. That's not to say she wouldn't like to be though. She hopes to have another child (or a few!) and that is part of the reason she's setting out to try and help make a world that will be safer and better for her future children.
14. What was your character's hometown like?
Her childhood home was less of a town and more of a small group of Urshine warriors (and their small families) that traveled together as the military dictated. When she went to study with Unae they likely did a decent amount of traveling.
Moonglade is the closest thing to a 'home' and she stayed there from 30 up until the past year. It is a fairly large sized deciduous forest grove that surrounds a natural spring. Parts of the forests were fairly thick wilderness while others were more sparce from constant travel. Lots of trees, plants, animals, etc. The three guardians (and any family they have had over time) were the only ones that lived within the grove, but there are a handful of small villages within a day's distance.
The grove and spring were frequented by nobles and druids so they had visitors at a fair frequency, so while it wasn't a hermit lifestyle it was still pretty backwoods and rural.
